Biographies
for ANGAZA
Each member of
Angaza has a special history that continues to unfold, as they are brought
together by two powerful forces MUSIC and LIGHT!! Individually they
have blossomed like a beautiful flower - in their craft, in different
parts of the world. Collectively put together, they are like a bouquet
of flowers, each bringing different colors in instrumentation, voice,
personality and experience. They together make up Angaza - Here are
their biographies..........
NORIKO
- PIANO/KEYS/VOCALS
Noriko has been classically trained since age 5. She graduated from
Jinai College in Japan majoring in music performance and then moved
to Los Angeles to learn Jazz and R&B. After graduating from Dick
Grove School of Music, she joined a number of local bands to get more
exposure in the L. A. music scene. Noriko has toured with Chaka Khan,
Teena Marie, Everette Harp, Rick James, Ali Woodson, Pink, and All 4
One. She has performed with: Tom Scott, Eric Marienthal, Shiela E.,
Luther Vandross, Lee Ritenour, and Howard Heiwitt - to name a few .
She has also appeared on The Alma Awards and The Wayne Brady Show. As
Angaza's Musical Director, Noriko weaves her musical needle and is able
to thread all the amazing talent that is Angaza together.
ANINDO- PERCUSSION/VOCALS
Anindo began her musical career in her homeland of Kenya. She enjoyed
a successful solo career in Europe, and became known internationally
as Kenya's "singing sensation." Anindo has performed with
Babatunde Olatunji, Micky Hart of The Grateful Dead, Leon Mobley &
Da Lion, Katherine Dunham, among others. She is also a certified Dunham
Technique instructor. She has studied djembe with Kimoko Sano of the
National Ballet De Guinea, Mamedy Kieta, Lamin Dibo Kamara, Karamba,
Babatunde Olatunji, C.K. Ganyo and Mor Thiam, to mention a few. As a
vocal contractor, she has worked on such films as "The Air Up There",
"Kazaam" and "Slave of Dreams". She worked with
Russ Landau on television’s "Survivor Africa" in her
native land of Kenya.
ASHLEY TA'MAR DAVIS - VOCALS
2004 NAACP Nominee in the category for Best Lead Female Actress:
Ashley has been singing, acting and dancing since the age of 3 years
old, in her hometown of Houston, Texas. As the former Miss Black Texas
Teen (1997-98) and Miss Black (Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity). Currently
She is a featured vocalist on the Lee Ritenour "Twist of Motown
Tour". She has also performed with Gerald Albright and Phil Perry
at 94.7- The Wave jazz concerts. As a background vocalist she has performed
with pop artist Celine Dion, Yolanda Adams, Rev. Donnie McClurkin, CeCe
Winans, to name a few. Ashley is also an accomplished actress and has
performed in numerous plays, musicals, on television and in motion pictures.
ROBIN ROUNTREE-BASS
Robin is from the windy city of Chicago. She has been playing bass professionally
for the last 15 years, and brings to Angaza her expertise as a bass
player and vocalist. She has been a featured staff professional, by
The Musicians Institute. She has served as a Musical Director for numerous
Hip Hop and R&B musical acts all over the world, including the Far
East and Saudi Arabia. She has performed with such artists as: Roy Gaines,
PINK, Nadirah Shakoor, W.H.E.T., Pamela Willams, Johnny "Guitar"
Watson and Tone Loc.
NOREEN BELLOT-GUITAR
Noreen, who is originally from Dominica, West Indies, started playing
guitar in high school. Some of the bands she performed with included:
Bluezeum (which featured some members of George Benson’s touring
band), Steel Fusion (steel band), Island Jam (reggae band) and Peace
& Fire . She has also recorded with groups like End Time Singers
(a Caribbean based band) and Bluezeum - on the album "Put Your
Mind On Hold", produced by Rick Hahn. Noreen has toured with many
Caribbean based bands throughout the islands of the Caribbean. She plays
a variety of music styles such as Soca, Calypso, French Zouk and Reggae,
however she has developed her own style in which she incorporates Caribbean
rhythms into R&B, blues and jazz.
CORA COLEMAN - DRUMS
A native of Houston, Texas, Cora Graduated from Howard University Majored
in Music Performance. She is currently working with Pink and has graced
stage with such artists as: Layla Hathaway, Frank McComb, Tom Schuman
and Goapele to name a few. Cora was the 2002 winner of Guitar Center
National Drum-Off, she was also the winner of 2004 International Blues
Challenge.

musician, Pamela Williams (Sax) did great play.
Chad Wright (Co-producer for Angaza) played Drums for Cora
Coleman on this La Ve Lee gig on 6/5/2004. He is also a great drummer!
